For those who are dead set in starting a company from the ground up or jumping into the world of Entrepreneurship.
I can’t help but to stress the fact that you have to crawl first,
before you take the first step, or even sprint. If you take a look at
the average corporate 40 hr work week, which usually consists of 9am
-5pm, Monday to Friday, there is still ample time for you to start
working on a part time hustle or apprenticeship.
Figuratively
speaking, you can do some serious damage from the hours of 7pm-12am.
That’s another 20 productive working hours that you can use to either
master a craft, or build the foundation to your future venture.
Multiply that times 50 weeks a year, and you have created 1000hrs of
extra revenue generated activity. From a quantitative approach,
1000hrs / 8hr full time work day = 125 work days!
The fact is
that you have to learn to capitalize on the energy that your youth
admits, while you are young, so you can reap the fruits of your labor in
the long term (when you are old). This means that you have to take on
as much responsibility and accountability while you are young, in order
to augment enough tacit (street) knowledge that you can use towards
starting your dream venture.
For those whom are looking for a part time, or either full time grind, the Services Sector and
Advertising Industry offers several evolving niches. From social media
development to design, the potential for income opportunities are
limitless. You just have to step outside of your comfort zone, invest
in yourself, and look.
Influenced by the CNN Money article, “Young
and restless”, an article that addresses the top 20 jobs for young
movers and shakers on the come up. I couldn’t help but to address the
following flourishing career as a Product/Brand Manager.
According to the study; (Source) Median Pay: $90,100 Most people make: $63,000 (90%) Top Earners: $108,600 (10%)
“You
won't be senior management, but you will have control over developing,
managing and marketing an assigned product line. In other words, you get
to exercise business savvy and creativity. A sizable salary and
launching pad to other high-level marketing jobs are part of the
package.”

In
the game of life, the simple fact is that concentrated practice
overtime produces effective results. Understanding the fundamental
principle that mastering a craft takes time and patience, is quite the
burden to most, as we currently live in an impulse world governed by
ADHD, OCD, and my favorite “OPP” and any other letters in the alphabet…
The enigma is that we live in a society governed by the media and social
pressures that continually stray us away from producing effective
results.
As Mark Cuban
states in the excerpt below, “When you are good at something,
passionate and work even harder to excel and be the best at it, good
things happen.” To those whom have the mental
discipline to master a craft, I commend you. To those whom are weak and
have folded to the pressures of society, please move out of the way of
those whom are trying. The world is yours…. Vereour Nusquam
I
hear it all the time from people. “I’m passionate about it.” “I’m not
going to quit, It’s my passion”. Or I hear it as advice to students and
others “Follow your passion”.
What a bunch of BS. ”Follow Your Passion” is easily the worst advice you could ever give or get.
Why
? Because everyone is passionate about something. Usually more than 1
thing. We are born with it. There are always going to be things we love
to do. That we dream about doing. That we really really want to do
with our lives. Those passions aren’t worth a nickel.
Think
about all the things you have been passionate about in your life. Think
about all those passions that you considered making a career out of or
building a company around. How many were/are there ? Why did you bounce
from one to another ? Why were you not able to make a career or
business out of any of those passions ? Or if you have been able to have
some success, what was the key to the success.? Was it the passion or
the effort you put in to your job or company ?
If you really want to know where you destiny lies, look at where you apply your time. Time
is the most valuable asset you don’t own. You may or may not realize it
yet, but how you use or don’t use your time is going to be the best
indication of where your future is going to take you .
Let me make this as clear as possible
1. When you work hard at something you become good at it.
2. When you become good at doing something, you will enjoy it more.
3. When you enjoy doing something, there is a very good chance you will become passionate or more passionate about it
4. When you are good at something, passionate and work even harder to excel and be the best at it, good things happen.
Don’t follow your passions, follow your effort. It will lead you to your passions and to success, however you define it.

During a conversation that I once had with Mr. Robert Greene
on, “self reliance and what it takes to make it in this current
volatile environment”, I couldn’t help but to appreciate his thoughts on
taking on this world alone. As he stated, “You were born in this world
alone, you will take on this world alone, and you will die alone.” To
the context that the following statement is quite acrimonious to most
conceptual values, the truth is that we are alone.
It
is this brutal conceptualization that must me conceptualized earlier on
in our lives in order for us to be free of the propaganda that we are
taught by are so called loved ones. The truth is that we are alone,
and that we must learn to discipline and master are own weaknesses in
order to take on the world. From time to time we will all be
obstructed by variables that we could not control. If conquered, these
obstructions over time become the building blocks that form that
foundations to empires. Hannibal states in the Ninety Nine Truths, “ A
first taste of defeat, though bitter, goes far to prepare your palate
for future feasts.”
As Dr. Lung states. “ The Samurai
have a saying, “Nine times down, ten times up!” and so we learn from
our mistakes – provided we survive of course, This adage has been taught
a thousand ways across as many years. Steel can only be made by fire.
Learning to be a “good loser” really does build character…of course,
learning to be a good winner pay dividends!”
Furthermore,
the earlier that you learn to build self reliant characteristics, the
earlier that you will have the self confidence to take on the world.

Through the years, I have taken many volatile journeys. From love to business ventures,
the world of a young innovator is quite intriguing. On the contrary,
the journey has established many great friendships and has also
destroyed many old ones. As the world turns, one must have the myopia
to keep on striving. While in the Marines I learned that you need
to constantly lead from the front. This ethos has been ingrained in my
mantra for many nights, as it has also been tested in the days. For all
those whom desire to take on the lonely and rewarding world of entrepreneurship,
I have taken the time to write down some simple questions that one
needs to ask, along with listing some bulletins that one needs to
ingrain in there rationality. Enjoy..
What drives you?
You have to wear what you are most comfortable with, so that you can perform your best work.
If your 70% sure than go for it.
You cannot be scared of change.
You have to look after your team, because they look after you.
You have to judge people on what they say and do.
Would you die for your brand?
Is your occupation or business a reflection of you?
Are you willing to put up with the hardships of the journey?
What is your business ethos?
You only really lose when you sell the shares.
Life is like a business, its 20% what happens to you and 80% how you respond.
If you are not growing than you are shrinking.
You need to stay consistent.
You never want to sacrifice clarity to be clever.
If you want to change your mindset and dynamic, you need to work and live outside of your comfort zone.
You need to constantly inspire and motivate yourself on a daily basis.
You need to find an industry with a void, do your due diligence, and run with it.
If you constantly lead, others will follow.
If you are not testing the boundaries, you are not working hard enough.
You need to work hard and with passion.
You need to stay young and open minded.
You need to stay fanatical and with an industry long enough in order for you’re to experience the dividends.
Always ask yourself, “What more can you do?”
Stay Energetic and Enthusiastic, even when the world is against you.
If tomorrow wasn’t promised, what would you give and spend today?
No one can judge effort, effort can only be judged by you.
Every moment is a new moment.
Never let your enemies choose the battlefield.
